General Questions

We believe honesty and transparency are critical in this business. We update our buy and sell rates daily based on the current market price of precious metals. Stop by either of our locations for a free, in-person appraisal, or give us a call to ask about today’s rates.
Yes! Unlike many gold buyers, Ridge Coin is a full-service precious metals shop. We buy gold, silver, platinum, coins, and jewelry from customers, and we also sell bullion, coins, and jewelry to customers looking to invest or add to their collection. Everything happens in person at one of our two locations.
The pennyweight (also referred to as DWT) is the standard weight measurement in the precious metal business. For those not in the industry, there are 20 pennyweights in 1 ounce.
The spot price is the current market price for immediate delivery of a commodity. In the gold, silver, or platinum business, it refers to the price at which that metal is trading for the day.
Unfortunately, we do not pay for loose gemstones. However, based on our in-person assessment of your item, we may add the gemstones’ value to the gold weight, which will increase the amount of our offer to you. We also pay wholesale price for diamonds and will gladly accept them.
We generally accept ALL precious metal items, including jewelry, coins, bullion, and scrap, with very few exceptions. We do not accept raw or mined gold, such as rocks, ore, or other unrefined materials. If you have questions about a particular item, just bring it in or give us a call.
No appointment necessary! Just walk in during business hours at either of our locations and one of our team members will be happy to help you.
Because everything is done in person, you’ll see your items appraised right in front of you, get a clear breakdown of how the offer was calculated, and you’re always free to walk away if you’re not happy with it. No mailing your valuables off and waiting to hear back.
You’re always in control. If you’re happy with our offer, we’ll pay you on the spot. If not, you’re welcome to take your items and go—no pressure, no obligation.
No need. We’ll evaluate the value of the diamonds along with the gold during your in-person appraisal, and you’ll often get more by leaving everything intact. Bring it as-is, along with any certifications or appraisals you may have.
